Miami Heat's Eddie Jones IS Worth 84 Million

For the past couple of days the topic on Sports Talk Radio (My personal favorite is 790 The Ticket) has been Eddie Jones. I don't know the history of Eddie Jones nor do I really care. From hearing the show's host and the callers here is what I have figured out. Apparently Eddie Jones has a contract that will pay him 84 Million Dollars. Now, it seems that he is not playing like someone who is being paid 84 millions dollars. The callers complain that he is making that much money but he is not producing and therefore is overpaid.

I am not here to comment on Eddie Jones' playing skills. What I want to tell all of these people who call into the show is that there are two things in play here. Cost and Worth. I learned a couple of things in my High School Economics Class (Thanks Tim Shea!!). Cost and Worth was two of those things that seemed to stick with me. The difference between Cost and Worth is simple. The cost is what money goes into making the item, while the worth is how much is someone willing to pay for the item. So a pencil may cost only 5 cents but will be worth about 25 cents because consumers are willing to pay 25 cents for that pencil.

So, how does this apply to Eddie Jones? Well, someone decided to pay Eddie Jones 84 million dollars. At that very instant, Eddie Jones's worth becomes 84 Million Dollars. It does not matter how much Eddie Jones actually cost. The Miami Heat are willing to pay him the 84 so he is worth 84. That's the bottom line so please callers... SHUT UP and enjoy the playoffs... :-)

War in Iraq, Gas Prices Up - Congress cares about Steroids

This should be a quick post... - The War in Iraq is still on going, Americans are still being killed everyday. - Gas prices are at an all time high, somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.36 a gallon for the "cheap stuff."

And Congress is focusing its time and our tax payer money to find out how to correct the problem with steroids in sports.

How about a Congressional hearing to find out why "W" really invaded Iraq? How about a Congressional hearing to find out how we can bring gas prices back down to a more normal level? It's ok for our President to kill thousands of American's and innocent Iraqi citizens so his Texas Oil buddies can rake in extra billions of dollars, but God forbid if Barry Bonds rubs some cream on his muscles.

Miami-Dade Buses to Drive on Emergency Lanes

I read an article in today's Miami Herald that really solidifies just how idiotic this City's and County's politicians are. In order to promote the use of mass transit, they are going to allow our buses to drive on the shoulders and emergency lanes of our congested roads letting them speed past traffic tie-ups.

Have they no clue? Do we really need a bus speeding through the narrow emergency lane? How many passenger side mirrors does Miami-Dade County plan on replacing when their bus drivers misjudge just how much space they have. Additionally, drivers already tailgate behind ambulances trying to gain an advantage. This will just entice them to follow behind the bus into the emergency lanes causing more chaos and further traffic tie-ups.

That is not truly the point of this posting. What truly make this idea as dumb as a box of rocks (and I apologize if I have offended any rocks) is that the majority of the people who live in Miami-Dade County live out West. This county is sprawled way way out towards the west and the majority of us work way East. However, they only focus their efforts into North / South corridors. They need to stop concentrating on North / South and start thinking about East/West.

The point I am trying to drive home here is that the problem in this county is getting everyone who lives West to the East part of town and back. And their plan to allow buses to drive on the shoulders to expedite service and hopefully increase ridership is what they bring to the table. BUT, and this is a big BUT here... this plan will not go into action on the ONLY EAST / WEST corridor in the county. The article notes, "Express routes will be established on the turnpike, the Palmetto Expressway (State Road 826), Interstates 75 and 95 and other feasible roadways.'' These are all North / South expressways. It makes no mention of 836, probably the most chaotic and most congested expressway in the County (Yes, Palmetto is bad but truly only because of Hialeah). During rush hour there is a 20 mile string of cars from its beginning all the way to its end crawling at a snail's pace. And there they sit atop their perches and tell us that the answer lies in allowing buses traveling north or south to use the emergency lanes. Man you just gotta laugh at how ridiculous these politicians are...

South Florida Fans obsess over NFL Draft

South florida sports fans have tunnel vision for football. Before I start, let me preface this by saying that I am splitting season tickets for the Miami Dolphins. Therefore I do have a vested interest in our football team. However, our baseball team, the Marlins, in first place. Our pitchers have lowest era in the majors and most complete games. More importantly, The Heat is in the NBA Playoffs.

And what do 98% of the callers into Sports Talk want to know? Who will the Miami Dolphins pick in the draft, will they trade down, who will Saban go with. Well I want to ask Who? Sorry, Who? Who gives a %*#*@!!!!

Plus, no one will know the results of the draft until after the season starts. The first pick may be a flop, while pick number 80 may be the next super star. Point is, NO ONE REALLY KNOWS. Football season is not for another, what 4 months!!!! We are in the midst of our basketball team going all the way right now, our baseball team is showing signs of being there in the end, and these idiot callers only care about what MAY happen 4 months from now to a team that went 4 and whatever last season? Come on South Florida fans, lets get our priorities straight.

Why do girls do this?

My nephew turned 8 on April 21 and we went to the Marlins game. The whole family went out there, 11 people. The Marlins were playing the Mets and The Stadium formerly known as Pro Player which was formerly known as Joe Robbie turned into Shea Stadium. The place was infested with Mets fans. After the first inning, I ran to grab a beer for myself and my aunt. When I returned, the seat next to me was filled with what I thought was a cute girl. She had green eyes and long lashes, in a wife beater and jeans. I am thinking sweet... So eventually we sparked up a conversation and I learn she is a Mets fan. However, she still seemed cool so I did not hold it against her. Her name is Danielle and she is a St. Thomas Law Student.

Now, lets fast forward to the 8th inning. I ask her if I could call her next week so we can hang out. She paused and was like uh, sure... Right then I am thinking she doesn't want to but she did. I still have a chance to hook up even though the present does not look promising. Marlins hit, the Mets hit, and the Marlins hit again.... Game Over. I turn to her and she has already scurried away, up the steps and making sure to avoid any and all eye contact! Not only did the present go dim, the future doesn't look so great either.

Why do girls do this? She knew I was there with my entire family. She could have atleast tossed me a bone so I wouldn't look like such an ass in front of everyone. Does she think she is being nice by giving me her number and then shunning me later? Why don't girls learn to just say, "I am flattered, but I would rather not." No games, no lies... just basically tell us thanks but no thanks.
