She is 13 for God's Sake, Let her abort!! [Updated]

This new debate about the pregnant 13 year old known as LG is really upsetting me. Here is the cliffnotes version of the story. She was under the state's care. The state "lost" the child, and while she was lost she becomes pregnant. LG came to her caseworker who then took her to a counselor to discuss options. LG decided to have an abortion. You can read more here.

Why is the government again trying to force their moral Christian views on the rest of us? Whatever happened to seperation of church and state? I hate that we are throwing away tax payer money trying to prevent LG from aborting. Abortion is legal. Remember Roe v Wade? And this 13 year old is essentially a rape victim. Being under aged, this would fall under statutory rape, wouldn't it? Why are they forcing this 13 year old to take this pregancy to full term and deliver?

More disturbing is that no one seems to care that DCF has lost yet another child. LG was under their care, under their supervision. Any parent that would lose their child PLUS then learn that the child became pregant while they were lost would be facing criminal charges for neglect. Why isn't the DCF?

[UPDATED Wednesday May 4th, 2005] Today's Miami Herald reported:

State ends battle; teen has abortion

The battle over whether a 13-year-old foster child could end her pregnancy ended Tuesday when the state decided not to continue its court challenge. [Full Article]

Yeah it's tragic either way but the state shouldn't be imposing their religious beliefs on us...
